Cooking and Recipe Q&A
1. Good recipes/ideas for a picnic dinner at the beach?

You don’t really specify how many will be attending. For a romantic dinner I like to take a loaf of crusty bread, sausage, cheese, fresh fruit and a bottle of wine.
If you have a group of people take a pasta salad (without mayonnaise), some fresh veggies and dip, a watermelon, and a meat to cook on the beach. What we like to do is create a small pit in the sand. Fill it with burnable stuff you find on the beach. So, kind of a dual purpose the beach is cleaner when you’re done. Kids love gathering stuff to burn. Put a larger log on each side of your fire pit to rest a grill rack across. Get your fire going and when you have hot coals you’re ready to cook. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, lobster are all good. Makes it a group activity when everyone gets to cook their own meat. It’s been a lot of fun for us anyway.
2. What went wrong with my cookies?
I am making cookies that are shaped in different ways for a party, but I shaped them with cookie dough, and when I took then out of the oven they were just blobs. I tried to cut out the shapes, but my cookies kept on cracking. I made the cookies with Nestle Toll House dough. I was wondering what went wrong. Did I leave the dough out too long and it became soft, or do I need to make/use a different cookie dough. Thanks in advance for your help!

You need to use a different cookie dough. A rolled cookie dough. Here’s a recipe;
3/4 Cup butter 1-1/2 sticks
1 Cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2-1/2 Cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp salt.
Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Add eggs one at a time. Mix the dry ingredients together and add gradually. Chill dough for 30 min. Roll out to 1/4inch thickness on floured surface. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 350F 8-10 minutes. Makes 2-1/2 dozen.
What is the best (simplest) dessert you can do with a microwave ?
* Nothing “ready-from-the store-bought” unless you doing more with it other then just heating.

Homemade alfredo recipe and garlic bread?
Best Answer – Chosen by Asker
1 pint heavy cream
1 stick butter
2 tablespoons cream cheese
1/2-3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
8 ounces fettuccine
In a saucepan combine butter, heavy cream, and cream cheese. Simmer until all is melted, and mixed well. Add the Parmesan cheese and garlic powder. Simmer for 15 minutes over low heat. Add cooked Fettuccine and mix to coat.
Garlic Bread
Make a garlic spread using 1 stick butter and soft margarine in equal parts, a small amount of olive oil, parsley, and 6-10 cloves minced garlic. Put into food processor to blend. Keeps for weeks in the refrigerator.
You can use any type of bread. I like French bread the best. Either cut the bread most of the way through into slices, spread with garlic spread, wrap in foil and heat at 350F. Or completely slice the bread, cover with spread and place on baking sheet in 350F oven for 5-10minutes. The second method will give you a crispier garlic bread.
That’s it for today! I’ll add a few more to this post as I get them. If you would like to read more Cooking and Recipes Q&A you can go to http://answers.yahoo.com.
